January 10, 2025
It is January 2025. Five years ago, we started this journey in a tiny, rented room with a single lightbulb during a global lockdown. We had nothing but the conviction that the children of Wakiso deserved better.
Today, thanks to five years of relentless work and your support, our programs are bursting at the seams. Our football academy has dozens of players; our literacy programs are crammed into borrowed halls; our feeding program requires a logistics miracle every morning.
We are grateful for the growth. But we are also frustrated. We have reached the absolute limit of what we can achieve in temporary, borrowed spaces. It is time to stop moving around. It is time to put down a permanent anchor.
The Problem with Being “Mobile”
Our current mobile model served us well in the beginning. It kept us agile. But temporary spaces create temporary results.
Rented halls have closing times. Borrowed football pitches get taken back by landlords. When a teenage girl needs a safe space to talk right now, she shouldn’t have to wonder which location we are operating from today.
Wakiso needs a sanctuary. A place that doesn’t close its doors at 5 PM. A place that belongs to the community, permanently.
“We have spent five years putting bandages on gaping wounds in borrowed clinics. It is time to build our own hospital. A permanent center isn’t a luxury; it is the prerequisite for lasting institutional change in this community.”
Introducing “Vision 2030”
Today, we are rolling out the blueprints for our future. “Vision 2030” is not just a fundraising slogan; it is a concrete, architectural plan to build the Fecane Community Learning Center.
We are designing a multi-story hub of innovation right here in the dust of Wakiso. This center will include:
- A Digital Library & Computer Lab: Bridging the digital divide for thousands of students.
- A Safe Space Wing for Girls: Dedicated counseling rooms and hygiene facilities.
- A Vocational Training Hall: Teaching coding, carpentry, and tailoring to older youth.
- A Permanent Kitchen: Capable of feeding hundreds daily without logistical hurdles.
The 5-Year Roadmap
This is a massive undertaking, and we are approaching it with the same discipline we have applied for the last five years. We are not asking for the whole building today. We have broken this down into achievable phases:
- Phase 1 (2025-2026): The Foundation. Secure land acquisition in a central location, land titling, and perimeter security fencing.
- Phase 2 (2027-2028): The Structure. Construction of the main ground floor hall, kitchen, and sanitation block.
- Phase 3 (2029-2030): The Expansion. Construction of the second-floor classrooms, digital lab outfitting, and grand opening.
We have the blueprints. We have the track record. Now, we need the builders.
This is the largest, most terrifying, and most necessary thing we have ever proposed. We are moving from changing individual lives to changing the landscape of Wakiso forever.
We are looking for our “Cornerstone Partners”—the visionary donors who will help us secure the land in Phase 1. Are you ready to build a legacy?
