Fecane Child Foundation staff updating the 2025 Impact Board showing 200 children served in Wakiso

200 Stories, 200 Futures: Our 2025 Mid-Year Impact Report

July 20, 2025

In January, we launched our “Year of Vision.” We promised that 2025 wouldn’t just be another year of survival; it would be a year of measurable growth. We set ambitious targets. We asked you to invest in a plan, not just a hope.

Now, six months later, the calendar demands accountability.

We have crunched the numbers, reviewed our case files, and audited our programs. Today, we are proud to announce that in the first half of 2025, Fecane Child Foundation has provided direct, sustained support to 200 unique children in Wakiso.

Deep Impact vs. Shallow Numbers

In the NGO sector, it is easy to inflate numbers. If we handed out a piece of candy to 1,000 kids, we could claim we “reached” 1,000 kids. But that is not how Fecane measures success.

When we say 200 children, we mean 200 individuals whose lives have been fundamentally altered by our intervention this year. These are not strangers we met once. These are children we know by name, whose parents we speak to, and whose progress we track week by week.

Here is the breakdown of that number:

  • 100 Students: Received full scholastic kits (backpacks, math sets, books) during our “Love in Action” Valentine’s drive, keeping them in school.
  • 50 Athletes: Are currently enrolled in the Fecane Football Academy, receiving weekly coaching, mentorship, and life-skills training.
  • 30 Toddlers: Are receiving daily nutritional support through the expanded Porridge Project to combat stunting.
  • 20 Emergency Cases: Includes the children from the 3 families who lost their homes in the May floods, who are now fully rehoused and stabilized.

The Ripple Effect

Statistics are cold, but the reality is warm.

Number 42 on our list is Musa, who we first met in 2020 sitting on a jerrycan. Today, he is in secondary school, playing midfield for our Under-15 team, and mentoring younger boys.

Number 156 is Sarah, the daughter of a single mother in the market. Because she received a scholastic kit in February, her mother could use that savings to buy more stock for her stall, increasing the family’s income by 15% this quarter.

“Behind every single digit in that number ‘200’ is a mother who breathed a sigh of relief, a child who walked to school with confidence, and a community brick that has been cemented into place.”

The Ceiling of Our Capacity

We are celebrating this milestone, but we are also hitting a wall.

Reaching 200 children effectively has stretched our current rented facilities to the breaking point. Our office is crowded. Our borrowed football pitches are overbooked. Our temporary learning halls are overflowing.

We know there are another 500 children in Zone B alone who need this level of support. But we cannot reach number 201 without more space.

This Impact Report is proof that our software (our programs/team) works perfectly. Now, we desperately need the hardware (the building) to match it.

We have proven we can manage the resources to change 200 lives. Imagine what we could do with the space to change 2,000.
