My name is Shafic Kalanzi Badru, and I am the founder of Fecane Child Foundation, a mission-driven organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable children and communities. My journey to founding Fecane Child Foundation is deeply personal, rooted in my own experiences, values, and unwavering belief in the power of opportunity, connection, and resilience.
Growing up, I was no stranger to adversity. I know what it means to live at the mercy of others, to face uncertainty, and to yearn for a chance to rise above challenging circumstances. But I also know what it means to be given a lifeline—a chance to rebuild, to grow, and to thrive. My life changed when I was offered opportunities that allowed me to break free from the cycle of hardship. These opportunities didn’t just restore my hope; they ignited a fire within me to pay it forward.
I’ve always been a people person. I love meeting new people, learning about their lives, and understanding their unique stories. I believe that every individual, no matter their background, has something valuable to contribute. My ability to connect with others, find common ground, and make people feel comfortable has been a cornerstone of my personal and professional journey. It’s also what drives my commitment to creating spaces where others feel seen, heard, and empowered.
As a natural leader, I thrive on results and am constantly evaluating how close or far we are from achieving our goals. I find inspiration in the pressure to deliver, and I use it as a motivator to push myself and my team to do better.
