Today, we are celebrating a victory that doesn’t involve food distributions or football matches—but it makes all of those things possible.
After months of paperwork, background checks, and meetings with district officials, we finally held the paper in our hands this morning. Fecane Child Foundation is now officially registered as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in Uganda.
For an outsider, this might just look like a piece of paper with a stamp. But for us, this certificate is our license to dream bigger.
Why This Piece of Paper Matters
In the non-profit world, passion starts the engine, but legitimacy keeps it running. Operating without registration is like driving a car without a license—you can do it, but you are always at risk, and you cannot go very far.
This registration status changes everything for us:
- Trust: It proves to the government and the community that we have been vetted and approved. We are not a “briefcase NGO” here today and gone tomorrow.
- Accountability: It allows us to open official organizational bank accounts, ensuring that every dollar donated is tracked and audited legally.
- Partnership: It opens the door for us to partner with larger international organizations who only work with registered entities.
“This certificate is not the destination; it is the foundation. It is the legal concrete upon which we will build a house of hope for the children of Wakiso.”
The Bureaucratic Battle
Getting to this point wasn’t easy, especially during a pandemic. Government offices have been running on skeletal staff, and movement has been restricted. There were days we stood in lines for hours, only to be told to come back next week. There were fees we scraped together from our own pockets because we knew this was essential.
But we persisted. We persisted because we know that to protect Musa, to support the families we visited last month, and to run a football academy that changes lives, we need to be bulletproof.
Open for Business (The Right Way)
To our early supporters who donated when we were just a group of volunteers with a vision: thank you. You trusted us before we had the stamp. Now, we can repay that trust with professional structure.
We are no longer just “helping out.” We are an institution. We are Fecane Child Foundation, and we are here to stay.
We are legal. We are ready. And we are just getting started.
Now that we have the official structure to handle growth, we are looking for our first “Monthly Partners.” Join us as we build this foundation brick by brick. Become a Monthly Partner Today
